Giving back to the community in 2020
Blossom House opened its doors in 2011 to provide safety and security to up to fifteen girls at a time between the ages of 5 and 18 by providing them with a home, food, access to education, and mental health services. This support allows them to pinpoint their individual strengths and become better members of their community capable of taking care of themselves and of helping others. One young woman who has been at Blossom House for 5 years is currently attending university and studying social work in hopes of assisting other women in Hanoi. To date Blossom House has provided support to over 50 girls between the ages of 4 and 20.
Monthly costs are over $5,000 for the house, food, staff (including dedicated social workers), medical expenses, and extracurricular activities. Donations from the community are essential to keeping this home up and running. The most substantial way to help Blossom House is through financial support, and there are several ways that you can contribute.
Blossom House merchandise can be found at a variety of businesses around Tay Ho. You can buy our water bottles, notebooks, tet envelopes, calendars, and bags at Red River Tea Room (176 Xuân Diệu), Emporium (172 & 39 Xuân Diệu), Better World (8 Xuân Diệu), and Simple Coffee (Số 87 ngõ 50/59 Đặng Thai Mai).
We also participate in relatively regular fundraising events. Twice a month 7Fridays West Lake (22 Quang An) host a comedy night and donate 50% of door proceeds to the Blossom House. Keep an eye out for our upcoming event – Drag Queen Bingo at Turtle Lake Brewery on February 29. If you are a business interested in getting involved, we are always looking for partnerships and prizes for these events! Contact [email protected] to connect with our events volunteer coordinator.
Gifts are always welcome at Blossom House. You can donate new or gently used clothing, sanitary products, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and food. These essential items will go straight to the girls at Blossom House.
If you are interested in getting involved, we are always looking for volunteers to assist with fundraising activities and events. This can include taking money at the door, hanging posters, or even hosting your own fundraising event! Past events include pub quizzes, local concerts, and chili cook-offs. We would love to hear your ideas; please reach out if you have something in mind. Of course, you can also always directly donate money, either in person or through our website.
